When it comes to Human Design, Strategy is your key guideline for making decisions and taking action. All other pieces of the puzzle help support living according to your Design, but Strategy is your action plan and Authority (more on that below) is your inner guide. Each Human Design Type has its own Strategy, guiding us in making decisions and interacting with the world around us – and if followed correctly, will help to unlock the door to our true selves; releasing expectations and conditioning around who we should be. Every one of us has such a unique gift to offer in this world – and forces outside of us will never know the extent of what those gifts are. That my friend, is something that can only be uncovered from within.
Projector Strategy: To Wait for the Invitation
Projectors are meant to be noticed and have so much insight to offer. What many Projectors may not yet understand is that they have everything they need to allow others to find them and ask them for guidance. While this may seem counter-intuitive – silence, and leading by example is how others see you. By waiting for this special recognition and invitation from others, you allow your true gifts to reveal themselves – just as much as you’re able to see those gifts within others.
What does this look like in real life?
As with the other Human Design Types, learning and embracing Strategy guarantees some level of awkwardness – it feels far outside the normal comfort zone, but the rewards tend to provide answers to the questions you’ve asked all along. As a Projector, waiting for an invitation might feel like a complete waste of time when you’re so ready and in tune with helping and guiding others, but…everything in Human Design revolves around the clean exchange of energy. When others invite you to share, guide, or lead them with a process or project, you are providing your incredible insights and feeling recognized and valued in return. In your day to day, this might look like going about your business and remaining open to a person or group asking for your advice or guidance. While you have so many insights to share, timing is key – sharing insights with those who don’t ask or aren’t ready to hear them often falls flat.
Yes! I followed my strategy
As you continue to follow your strategy of waiting to be invited, your ability to recognize your true worth grows. You develop a strong sense of knowing what’s worth sharing your insights for, or if you’re overexerting yourself just because you’ve been invited. Not every invitation means it’s something you must follow through with; that’s where your Authority comes in. Learning and living this strategy leads to your Signature: Success. The sense of success in life is your specific indicator that you’re on the right path.
Strategy? Yeah, not following.
When any Human Design Type is not following their Strategy, they begin to notice a ‘Not-Self’ theme showing up in their lives. Feeling the emotion that’s tied to your Type’s ‘Not-Self’ is an incredibly helpful gauge of whether or not you are following or ignoring your Strategy. When Projectors do not wait to be invited, bitterness is their guidepost. This ongoing Not-Self theme is met with feeling completely depleted and undervalued. If this not-self theme continues, they will begin to compromise and settle for any invitation they receive – even if it’s an invitation they don’t want to accept. When they accept for the sake of accepting, Projectors are not receiving the valuable energy that’s meant for them.
Now what?
I believe one of the most important prerequisites to experimentation is awareness. Reflect on any areas you’re feeling resistance or bitterness and ask yourself if you followed your Strategy before arriving at that point. Test out your shiny new Strategy and see if this helps to notice where you’re being invited to guide others, leading to successful moments in your life. And of course, gaining awareness and making adjustments to how you operate takes time. Be patient with yourself as you learn to integrate this enhanced way of living!
Hopefully, by this point, you have a good primer on the art of waiting for an invitation, and how it might help you to live more authentically and make decisions that are in line with your true nature. Naturally, the next step here is to dive into the how behind it all – how will you know what feels right to accept in terms of an invitation?
